An unforgettable sunrise: Hot air balloon flight with Global Ballooning Australia over Yarra Valley
5:15am:
We arrive at Blairgowrie Estate in the dark and check in with the cheery staff. They give us a coloured lanyard that separates us into groups assigned to each pilot. You can feel the anticipation and excitement in the air.
5:30am:
We board the mini buses that take us to the take-off field. The sky is a deep indigo and the grass wet with morning dew as we walk to our balloons.
Tip: Wear hiking clothes and shoes that you don’t mind getting wet and grassy. Sandals and long skirts are not recommended as your shoes or long material will likely get soaked.
We watched as the balloons inflated into giants against the night sky, getting lighter by the second and turning into an orange-blue as the first light began peeping over the horizon. As a first time ballooner, this was so fascinating to watch.
6:00am:
